A Fairytale Setting for Your Wedding
Château de la Boutinière is the setting you imagine when you picture a fairytale wedding in France. A romantic château surrounded by peaceful woodland, an English Park with centuries-old trees, and gardens that feel untouched by time. The sweeping drive, stone façades and soft stillness of the grounds create a magical atmosphere from the moment you arrive – grand yet intimate, elegant yet warm. Every corner of the estate carries a sense of story and place, offering the perfect beginning to your celebration.
The Night Before
Your celebration begins the evening before, when the entire 52-acre estate becomes yours alone. Couples often host a relaxed supper with close family and friends, setting the tone for the days ahead. As the sun sets behind the trees, the château takes on a warm, golden glow, and the gardens grow quieter until the only sounds are conversation, laughter and the breeze moving through the leaves.
Guests settle into their nearby gîtes, while you retreat to the château with the comfort of knowing that everything — the grounds, the salons, the pathways, the stillness — is reserved exclusively for your weekend. It’s a rare luxury to begin your wedding without rush or noise, allowing you to savour every moment from the very start.
The Morning of Your Fairytale Wedding
The morning of your fairytale wedding begins gently, with a traditional French breakfast served inside the château. Soft light pours through the tall windows, illuminating the parquet floors and the calm spaces where preparations unfold. In the salons and bridal suite, there is a quiet sense of anticipation – a balance of movement and stillness as the day builds around you.
Outside, guests gather on the château steps or wander through the shaded garden paths while the final touches are made. The estate feels suspended in its own world: no rushing, no interruptions, only the slow, steady arrival of a long-awaited moment. It’s a morning that feels as if it exists only for you.
The Ceremony
Your ceremony can take place on the grand rear steps with sweeping views of the English Park, inside the intimate chapel for a more traditional exchange of vows, beside the wedding garden with its flower arch and fountain, or at the hunting lodge nestled quietly within the woods. Each location offers something distinct – elegance, intimacy or quiet romance – but all carry the unmistakable charm of the French countryside.
As you walk through your family and friends, framed by limestone, sky and parkland, the château becomes a cinematic backdrop to the moment you have imagined. The setting elevates even the smallest details, making your vows feel both deeply personal and beautifully dramatic.
Your Fairytale Wedding Photos
After the ceremony, the estate opens up like a storybook. The Romeo & Juliet balcony is perfect for timeless portraits, while the stone steps create a grand, romantic frame for group photos. The wedding garden offers softer, more whimsical scenes – the flower arch, the fountain, the rope swing adorned with flowers and the illuminated pond.
Couples often wander through the wildflower meadow or into the woodland for more intimate shots, capturing the quieter side of the estate. And for those who love authentic French village charm, the stone bridge in Saint-Pierre-de-Maillé, just a short walk away, provides a stunning backdrop that feels effortless and deeply atmospheric. These locations give your photographs the depth and variety that define a fairytale wedding.
Your Fairytale Wedding Celebration
Your wedding breakfast typically unfolds in a beautiful marquee set within the wedding garden, with the château rising behind it as dusk settles over the grounds. Guests drift between the terrace, the gardens and the celebration spaces – glasses in hand, conversations flowing, children playing as the lights begin to shimmer in the trees.
As evening arrives, the atmosphere deepens. Music fills the garden, lanterns and soft lighting transform the grounds into a warm, glowing setting that carries your fairytale wedding long into the night. Whether you choose dancing under the open sky or inside the hunting lodge, the celebration continues without interruption – the luxury of a venue with no curfew and complete exclusivity.
