Chateau Stays in France at Château de la Boutinière
Staying in a French chateau offers the chance to live within history rather than observe it. With our chateau stays in France, guests experience life inside a working nineteenth-century chateau, shaped by its setting, its rhythms, and the people who care for it.
At Château de la Boutinière, guests are welcomed into a privately restored French chateau, where heritage, daily life and the surrounding countryside form the backdrop to each stay.
All chateau stays at Château de la Boutinière are based on a minimum two-night bed-and-breakfast stay for two guests in one of our suites. Each stay includes a three-course evening meal for two, including wine, on one evening, served in the chateau. Additional nights are available for guests who wish to extend their stay.
Six different chateau stays are available, each centred on a specific experience offered during your time at the chateau. Each stay offers a distinct way to experience the estate while maintaining the same level of personal hosting and comfort. While the focus differs, all are hosted personally by Alison and Zion and include time spent within Château de la Boutinière and its grounds.

Chateau Stays in France FAQs
Are chateau stays at Château de la Boutinière fully hosted experiences?
Chateau stays at Château de la Boutinière include key hosted elements within a more flexible stay. Guests enjoy a two-night bed and breakfast stay for two, a personal tour of the chateau and estate with Alison and Zion, and a two-course evening meal with wine on one evening. Outside these included elements, guests are free to spend their time independently and make their own plans.
Do guests share the chateau with others during their stay?
No, Château de la Boutinière accepts only one chateau stay booking at a time. Although the main house includes multiple suites, guests have exclusive use of the chateau and grounds during their stay.
How does the Romantic Escape differ from the other chateau stays?
The Romantic Escape is a chateau stay centred on the Bridal Suite and a private, couple-focused experience. Other chateau stays are themed around activities such as wine tasting, antique hunting or heritage tours. All stays follow the same hosted format, but the Romantic Escape places greater emphasis on privacy and atmosphere.
Can guests choose between different chateau stay experiences at Château de la Boutinière?
Yes, Château de la Boutinière offers several themed chateau stays for guests to choose from. Each stay focuses on a particular experience while following the same accommodation and hosting format. Guests select their preferred stay when making an enquiry, and bespoke combinations can be discussed directly with the owners if required.
Can a chateau stay be personalised for a special occasion?
Yes, Château de la Boutinière can tailor chateau stays for birthdays, anniversaries and other celebrations. Guests discuss their plans with the owners before arrival, and personal touches can be incorporated within the hosted experience.
Are children welcome during chateau stays?
Yes, Château de la Boutinière welcomes children and family bookings. Children must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over during their stay.
Are pets allowed in the chateau suites?
Château de la Boutinière considers pet requests on a case-by-case basis. Because of the historic interiors, pet stays must be agreed in advance. Guests are advised to raise any pet enquiries at the time of booking.
What is the difference between a chateau stay and a gite stay?
A chateau stay at Château de la Boutinière is a hosted bed-and-breakfast experience within the main house. A gite stay provides self-catering accommodation in a separate, fully self-contained unit within the estate grounds. Chateau stays include personal hosting, shared dining and curated experiences, while gite stays offer greater independence and private facilities.
Are chateau stays available throughout the year?
Yes, Château de la Boutinière offers chateau stays throughout most of the year, subject to availability and estate commitments. Seasonal factors may affect scheduling, and availability is confirmed directly with the owners at the time of enquiry.
